What is salvation and why do you need to pray for it?

Salvation is a free gift from God.

How do I receive salvation?

It is obtained through faith in Jesus Christ.

Do I need salvation?

If you have not prayed to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior then yes, you need salvation.

Salavtion is the gift of forgiveness and grace that God gives to those who receive Jesus into their hearts. We are all sinners, given to sinful or wrong thoughts and actions. We do things that are against God and His Holy nature. That is why He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus, an offering for our sin.

Until Jesus came, born of a virgin, and walked completely without sin you and I faced the eternal punishment and wrath of God. In order to receive forgiveness and cleansing from our sins it was necessary for blood to be shed. This was done by the sacrificing of animals for temporary forgiveness. However, the blood of these animals could not permanently cleanse the individual. it was necessary for a person to offer sacrifice regularly to receive atonement again and again.

Because of sin, behaviors not pleasing to God, there was a separation between God and man. When Jesus, after setting an example of a sinless life, had become obedient to death on the cross, having suffered beatings and ridicule at the hands of Roman soldiers, presented His blood as a living sacrifice for us. He was without sin, holy, yet he died a sinners death for you and for me. His blood became the final sacrifice. paying for our sins, and breaking the wall of separation between God and man once and for all, and securing eternal life for those who believe in His sacrifice and receive the gift of salvation that He offers.

If you have not asked Jesus into your heart I would encourage you to do so now. It is as simple as saying a few words. You can use the following sample prayer, or you can use your own words. What's important is that you believe in your heart that Jesus paid the price for your sin.

Jesus I believe that you paid the price for my sins and I ask you to forgive of my sins. Come into my heart Jesus, I make you the Lord of my life. Thank you for forgiving me and giving me the gift of your salvation, in Jesus name Amen!
